Working at the Loom

$250.00Price
In the Island the traditional division of labour was structured along gender lines. Men's roles were mainly away from the home, while women's were dedicated to the home. The shepherds who were looking after the flocks most of the time were always male, while the women worked at home to transform the wool into ancient traditional carpets, Some Sardinian women still do traditional wool embroidery on silk and brocade fabrics. This craft is particularly cherished, and is still being taught, owing to its economic value and the proud tradition it represents.
